CIFF is proud to announce their latest collaborator, designer Maja Weiss, who will be joining CIFF SS17 in August with a special project.

Maja Weiss was born in the Slovenian city of Crnomelj in former Yugoslavia in 1982. After studying textile and fashion design at the University of Ljubljana, she continued her studies in Belgium at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. After graduating in 2010, Maja assisted at the costume atelier of Jan Fabre Troubleyn theatre in Antwerp and worked with several different start-up brands, like Y-Project, Bruno Pieters and Yohan Serfaty among others.

Subsequently in 2014 she joined the multi-cultural gang of creatives and design team behind Vetements.

Maja’s design influences stem from the world’s underground sub-cultures, music and art movements from the east to the west block, and this season CIFF visitors will be treated to a very special project from Weiss’ creative mind.

“Vetements' success story in the two short years since their launch in 2014 and the impact of their questioning of the fashion world we live in has been undeniable. We at CIFF are excited to welcome Maja into the family and look forward to presenting her universe in this special project.” - Kristian W. Andersen, Fashion and Design Director at CIFF.

The concept of Maja’s project is the ‘Second Fashion cycle,’ questioning and doing away with the traditional, regulated and repeated ‘fashion cycle’ by following a garment until the end and observing a course of different elements inside of the textile industry, that is rarely considered or valued. Consequently abling us to explore the value of recycling material, function or design.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of yet another talented international team of people and the great work CIFF does in Copenhagen and internationally. I’m looking forward to contributing to and presenting this project, that is full of diversity and complexity on so many different levels.” – Maja Weiss, Designer.
